MacTidyCookie Policy
Draft, not yet reviewed by a lawyer. These documents were written to match what MacTidy actually does, and they follow the usual structure for a macOS software product sold in the US and the EU. They are a starting point for your counsel, not legal advice, and they are not a substitute for review. Every [MARKED] item still has to be filled in, and the choices about governing law, the EU representative and retention periods are decisions only you can make.
This website sets no cookies
Not analytics cookies, not preference cookies, not essential ones. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
It also loads nothing from anyone else
No third party fonts, no scripts, no tag managers, no embedded video, no tracking pixels. Every file this site serves comes from this site. That matters because a third party request hands your IP address to that third party whether or not a cookie is involved, and a site arguing that nothing tracks you should not be doing that.
What the server records
Our web host keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, in order to serve pages and defend against abuse. That is covered in section 3 of the Privacy Policy. It is not a cookie and it is not used to build a profile of you.
Checkout is somewhere else
When you buy, you are handed to our payment provider on their own domain. They set what they need in order to take a payment and stop fraud, under their own policy. We do not control it and we do not receive it. Their policy is linked from the subprocessors page.
If this ever changes
If we add anything that sets a cookie or calls a third party, we will put a consent mechanism in place first, in the form the ePrivacy Directive and GDPR require, and update this page. We will not quietly start.
